The thought that the cake will be going into the garbage just seems wrong. I wonder what else we can do about it. I know cupcakes are very popular but again, with a 10-12 course Chinese banquet, it seems a little too much at the end.

Hi there! At some weddings I've been to, they "boxed" up individual slices of cake as a favor. Usually its pre-packaged and ready to go at the beginning of the banquet (providing they're not using fresh cream). I think you're on the right track though with no wanting to waste the cake, as typically, chinese people don't eat cake after they've had a 10 course meal.

As for takeout boxes for leftover food, your chinese venue can provide that so you don't have to spend extra money buying those fancy take-out boxes unless you're planning on filling it with something other than food! Just a thought!
