Wedding Invites

Since I took Monday off, I had a long weekend (Canada Day) last week. July marks the 12 months count down to the big day and also the month which I’ve decided to get a head start on the invitations. I had made the card design back in March and had started buying some of the papers and materials for it from Paper Poet and Making Memories.

The card design is pretty simple but the front requires some assembling. So I wanted to start cutting up the paper in the right sizes first when ever I have time. Then later on, all I need to do is glue them all together. Here is a mock up of my design from March:

The card pretty much decided the wedding colours for me. Red will be the main colour with brown and pink as secondary. At one point I had thought about using red and gold but that’d be too Chinese I think. I’m going to change the patterned strip in the bottom and also add another layer of pink underneath the brown square. I’m thinking of using ivory paper for the text inside the card. Also, since we’re having a Chinese and English version of the invites (separate card), I’m still deciding if I want to replace “you’re invited” with the double happiness stamp in gold ink. What do you think?
