Lovely Wedding Studio, Vancouver – Review
I heard about Lovely Wedding Studio from a friend of mine. It’s a fairly new photo studio located in Union Square, Richmond. Al and I went in one Saturday to speak with Mindy, a stylist and makeup artist with 20 years of wedding industry experience.
The studio is not as big as HN Wedding or Wedding Story. A meeting table with albums and samples sat in one corner while the sides of the room are lined with wedding and evening gowns. Like with the other studios, we got to browse through their albums. I was surprised to see that one of our friends had taken his prewedding pictures with Lovely Wedding Studio. This gave us the perfect opportunity to compare the makeup technique. I like how the makeup doesn’t look too “fake” or heavy. It was very natural looking. I’ve seen pictures where the makeup made the bride look a lot older. There were some outdoor photos which we really liked, one from Granville island and several from the beach. I enquired about their indoor photoshoots since I noticed that most of their studio photos have patterend or coloured background, which led me to believe that it’s all done digitally. I was told that due to the size of their studio they have limited space for props. Thus the indoor shoot’s background are all digitally added and they can make it any background you want. After viewing the samples, Mindy walked us through the different photo packages and pricing. Prices for prewedding photos are in the range of $4,000.
I really liked Mindy’s makeup style. The only downside was that both Al and I prefer real props for indoor shoot rather than digitally added ones. I met up with Mindy again at my friend’s wedding. She was there the entire time during dinner to do hair and makeup for the bride. The bride look stunning and some friends who are planning to get married soon had ask for Mindy’s contact. If you are looking for a makeup artist, I would definitely recommend her.

I agree, Mindy is definitely a very good makeup artist. I just saw my friend’s wedding day pictures and her makeup was very natural, matching all the dresses she had changed into that evening at the banquet.
I find most of Lovely Wedding Studio’s outdoor pictures pretty nice. It is comparable with other Asian studios, probably above average in terms of the photography style. One of my favourite photo is the one taken at Granville Island with the pigeons (in their Gallery, it’s Page 2, Photo15.jpg). When I went into the studio, I was looking for high-fashion, magazine style photography and I didn’t get to see them at Lovely Wedding. This is probably because the couple did not ask for that style. So if you have a specific style in mind, be it cute, sexy, fun, etc. you should ask to see if they have samples of those. That would give you a better idea on their photography style.
As for other studios, I’ve been to HN Wedding and Wedding Story. Both which I’ve written a review for. Out of all three, I personally liked HN Wedding’s photography style the most and so did my fiance. They are the most expensive out of the three. HN’s use of natural lighting and lens effects was what captured our eyes. As for Wedding Story, I’m sure you’ll be impressed with their photos as well. They had this one at the Stanley Park lighthouse which was stunning.
It would be best if you could visit the studios to actually see the albums and different photography style of the photographer as well as their makeup and dresses.
I hope you find this useful and I’d love to see which studio you decided to go with. No matter which one you choose, I’m sure your fiance would love this surprise.
I went to those three studio.too.Lovely Wedding price is lower then others. but my friend told me their photographer is Ken. Ken have his own website and studio (he works at YaoHan Center 2F). therefore, we can just go booking Ken myself instead pay extra to Lovely Wedding.
Wedding story. I like their photo but dress is so so. They are Korean photo studio. I’m worry when we taking photo it’ll difficult to communicate with them.

Hi Jan, I was searching up Lovely Wedding Studio on the net and I saw your post. I was trying to find comments on them because one of my co-worker just finished taking photos there, and she reconmended me to go. She brought in the photo album for us to see. I think She bought the metallic crystal package so it looked very shinny and detailed. I didnt see any indoor pics though.. I guess they took all outdoor shoots only. The makeup & hair definitely was stunning~ *BIG difference* Mindy is for sure a professional. We didnt want to take pre-wedding photos at first because it wasnt part of our budget. but after seeing my co-worker’s album, I am thinking of giving my fiance a surprise prewedding photo package. So I am looking for comments on lovely wedding studio n also others. I was wondering if you can give me some ideas because guys and girls have different tastes so the more i hear the better~
