Monogram Design

The past couple of weeks I’ve been work on designing a monogram for a friend’s wedding. After a long list of candidates we finally picked a winner:

We settled for a script style font with a crown. The text is in charcoal grey with the crown and boarder in gold.

Here are some of the other designs:

The last three looks more like brand logos don’t they.

This is my first time designing monograms and it’s actually harder than I thought. Finding the right font and making it work with the initials and the crown was a bit tricky.

None of my other friends that got married used monograms so I’m wondering if it’s more of a Western tradition. Did you use a monogram? I would love to get some ideas.

PS: I’ll be moving to another house in the middle of next month so I’ve been busy packing. If you don’t see any response in the blog, don’t be alarmed! I’m just taking a short break and will return by the end of May. Looking forward to hearing all your wedding planning suggestions and tips when I get back.

I’d love to DIY our wedding monogram, have some ideas in my head but just haven’t gotten to that part yet :p would you mind telling me which software you use?

I use Adobe Illustrator CS2 for the monogram but any graphics software should work.

Nice! The crown is so cute.
I am making my own monogram too. It’s just for fun. I will have it on my invitations, favor tags, water bottles, perhaps bubbles, menus…
