I had thought having a big BBQ for a late afternoon/early evening dinner instead of the traditional sit down banquet but with relatives and friends that are more traditional, especially grandparents, we decided to stick with the usual: early afternoon ceremony followed by a Chinese banquet.

We also thought of having a lunch wedding banquet initially. However my mom raised a question: “do you expect me to cook at the night of your wedding then? How about all your out-of-town guests? They fly all the way just for the lunch?” So later we said ok may be we will have a causual dinner with close family & out-of-town guests that night then. But at the end we figure it’s even more work to have both a formal lunch banquet & a casual dinner. Too much issues involved – who get to attend which event plus potentially ‘upset’ guests who feel offended because they are not invited to one of them……so we decided with a dinner banquet instead.
