Our Wedding Domain! shortynme.com
Since there seem to be plenty of time till the wedding day (14 months), I thought I’d work on the website first because I know I’m slow with the creative work and even slower when it comes to coding it. For a few days I was wracking my brain trying to come up with a domain name that I liked for the website. Both Al and I didn’t like using the common “bride’s name and groom’s name dot com” but coming up with a unique yet relevant domain name was not easy.
Originally my brother had thought of using the date, which was “julytwentyfifth” (this was the first wedding date) but when it doesn’t quite work for June 18th since most of the variations are taken. Also I wanted to use the domain for after the wedding and using the date just doesn’t have much of a meaning.
So we tried using our pet names. It sounded weird. Maybe use our last names? That’s even more weird. ChanChau? (lol) It just doesn’t go well together. Finally we came up with the name Shorty and Me. The reason is Al is slightly shorter than me hence he’d be the “shorty” and since I’d be the one updating the site, the name make sense – ie. it’s about the two of us. Now the irony is that in our prewedding photos, which I’m planning on putting on the wedding site for the guests to look at, Al is taller than me in every shot (that’s because he cheated!). So now it seems that I’m the shorty instead.
Anyways, while I work on the final look of the wedding website, I’ve designed a very rough parking page for the site which contained the graphics I’ve designed (see previous post), a counter for the wedding date and how to contact me. Check it out at shortynme.com and let me know what you think.

Hi Xiaobee,
I’m planning to launch the site on June 18, 2010 so the out of town guests can save the date. I’m also planning a pre-registration page for people coming from HK as I hope to get a more accurate count on the number of out of town guests by the end of this summer. This way I can adjust my guest lists and banquet size.
However the rsvp page will not be available until after the invitations have gone out.

That’s actually really cute. Haha…when will it be up and running?
